When I’m writing a first draft, when the juices are really flowing, there’s something about writing in he dead of night and into the wee hours of the morning that is pure magic!
At a recent event where a panel of local writers discussed their experiences with both traditional and self-publishing, the best advice of the night was that authors need to be ‘shameless self-promoters.’ I don’t know that I can go that far, but her advice makes a good point; no matter how we publish, promoting our own work is essential. I also believe that word of mouth is the best advertising – I know that most of what I read is because I’ve heard about it from others.
I’d be interested in hearing from you – how do you decide what you read?
